Experiment on anomalous phase synchronization

Abstract

We report the first experimental evidence of anomalous phase synchronization in two coupled Chua's oscillators. The anomalous onset of phase synchronization shows an initial increase in frequency difference with coupling before following a usual transition to phase synchronization as monotonic decrease in frequency difference with a maximum at an intermediate coupling. The role of coupling asymmetry on anomalous effect is revealed for both diffusive and unidirectional coupling.
